Citation numbering

Hello, I’m trying to figure out the best way to deposit the citations for journal articles we deposited.
As our journal’s bibliography lists are a mixture of footnotes and literature references, I wonder whether it’s common usage to either:

  • add every note to the reference list (including commentaries, and things like Ibid)
  • don’t add commentaries and Ibids. to the list but keep the numbering as in the article, or
  • don’t add commentaries and Ibids. to the list and renumber the references?

Thanks for the advice! Hope this question makes some sense.

Hi Erwin,

This is a good question. We recommend that you register those references that are included in the reference list for each chapter or the whole book. We don’t recommend adding the commentaries and Ibids to that reference list.

Thus, my recommendation is: don’t add commentaries and Ibids. to the list and renumber the references
