Crossref Similarity Check service - call for user tester volunteers

The Similarity Check service gives Crossref members access at a reduced rate to a content comparison tool produced by Turnitin, using the iThenticate technology, to verify the originality of scholarly works.

Last September, we launched with our partners at Turnitin a new version of iThenticate.

Some of you have already upgraded and are familiar with its new and improved features e.g. preprint inclusion/exclusion filter, customised section exclusions, shareable and interactive PDF report, increased document upload capacity, suspicious and hidden character detection, etc.

Most of you will be migrating to this new version in the coming weeks or months and will be able to enjoy its benefits whether you are using iThenticate in the browser or via a peer review management system.

We have a pretty ambitious product development roadmap for 2022 which includes paraphrasing detection and improved citation detection.

In the past, Crossref members have expressed an interest in testing new or improved features and we would like, as part of our community engagement commitment, to invite volunteers to join the Similarity Check user tester group.

If you use the service regularly and would like to help us develop and improve it, we’d love to hear from you!

Please register your interest by completing this short survey and we’ll be in touch shortly.
