Last month we were thrilled to run a series of webinars in collaboration with ies Research on the 19th, 20th and 25th August. We covered the importance of DOIs, how to manage your metadata, finding your way on the Crossref website as well as how to participate in some of our additional services. If you are interested in viewing the recording, slides or reading some of the Q&A from the sessions, then please follow the links below.
1. Not just identifiers: why Crossref DOIs are important
DOIs enable persistent linking to a piece of content, and an easy way for a publisher to update this if/when the content moves. Enabling others to persistently link to a piece of scholarly content, including in reference lists for example, makes the content easier to find, cite, link, assess, and reuse.
In this webinar we cover:
• What DOIs are and how they work in combination with other metadata you can register at Crossref.
• What DOIs are not; we debunk some myths and misconceptions about what a DOI can do.
• Who uses persistent identifiers and scholarly metadata, many more than you might expect!

2. How to manage your metadata with Crossref
Membership at Crossref is about more than assigning digital object identifiers (DOIs) to your content. A DOI is simply one important piece of metadata you can register at Crossref. The more accurate and comprehensive your metadata is, the further it will go.
In this webinar we cover:
• The importance of complete and accurate metadata
• How to make corrections and additions to your records including the various tools you can use to do this.
• How our new Participation Reports tool can help you find out what metadata your records may be missing and how to improve them
• How to get further help and support
