Batch DOI (and PMID) lookup from reference

I’ve searched the forms for this, but haven’t found what I’m looking for.

I have a spreadsheet with approximately 200 references in it (authors, title, journal, year, volume, and pages). However, I need to get the DOIs (and also PMIDs for these, if possible). I’ve used the simple text query, and it returns good results, however the results are in line format. Is there a way to do this query and get the results in tabular format so that the DOI and PMID are in separate fields from the reference? I’d just like to be able to copy the DOIs into my spreadsheet.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @mike1 ,

Thanks for your question, and welcome to the community forum. Unfortunately, the Simple Text Query form is the only tool that we have that returns PubMed IDs (PMIDs), so the format returned to you in the Simple Text Query form is the extent of what we offer for PMIDs.

My best,
Isaac

Hi Mike: If you have the PMIDs, the easiest way is to use PubMed’s APIs to obtain their DOIs and other relevant metadata. You can look up the specifics at the NLM website. HTH, Navid
