We’re happy to announce that our participation reports now include two new fields: Affiliations and ROR IDs. This means that you can see - for each and every Crossref member - what percentage of their registered records of various types contain:
- affiliation metadata for at least one contributor, and/or
- at least one ROR ID within the contributor metadata.
Affiliation metadata is a key element of the research nexus which helps institutions, libraries, funders, publishers, and other stakeholders monitor and measure research outputs. ROR IDs are unique, open, persistent identifiers for institutions which greatly enhance the usability of affiliation metadata.
Let’s look at one member’s participation report to see the new fields in action:
As you can see, of the 1,133 journal articles that were published by University of Szeged in 2022-2024, there are affiliation metadata registered for 92% and at least one ROR ID for 89%.
To find out how you are doing, find your participation report by typing the name of your member organization into the search box. And, as ever, go to our documentation to find more information.
Special thanks are due to Dr Nees Jan van Eck, Hans den Os, and their team at CWTS Leiden for contributing the code underlying the addition of the two new fields. We are very excited about this example of community collaboration getting things done to benefit everyone!
